Namur
is prosperous city in the heart of French-speaking Wallonia.
As a result of strategic geographical location the confluence
of the Sambre and Meuse rivers, the town was once an important
military fortress, besieged on many occasions. Its enormous
citadel, spread over the hill known as Le Champeau, bears witness
to its warring past. Today the superb Jambes Bridge spans the
two rivers.
